Letting Go of the Old: The Price of Real Renewal

In the Book of Acts 19:20, it says: In this way the word of the Lord spread widely and grew in power.

Change is rarely comfortable, but growth is impossible without it. In Acts 19, when the gospel took root in Ephesus, people took inventory of their lives. Those who had practiced sorcery brought their scrolls together and burned them publicly. This was an astonishing financial cost, yet they valued spiritual freedom far more than worldly treasure.

Real transformation always touches our everyday choices. When we invite God to work in our lives, He asks us to release the baggage, negative patterns, and past habits we used to lean on.

Are there things in your life that are taking up space where God wants to bring peace? Letting go might feel costly in the moment, but the freedom and clarity God gives in return are worth far more than anything this world has to offer.

The blessings keep coming. It started the day she tried on her wedding dress. I was there in support. Afterwards, the entire group decided to get a bite to eat. In my purse, I had seventy cents and on my card, I had three dollars plus some change. Upon arrival to the restaurant, we were greeted and seated by the waitress. While checking out the menu, I wondered what I could order that would not be over the bit of money I had in my purse. I could play it safe by ordering a pop or coffee. Hmmm,... The waitress appeared as the group was discussing what they were going to order. Since they served breakfast, lunch and dinner, I asked for a side order of toast. The group suggested I get the french toast, which was waaay out of my budget. But, I said, OK and ordered it. All along, I had been praying in my head for the LORD to help me. When the food came, I prayed for the group, thanking God for our meal. We all enjoyed ourselves. They even tasted some of my french toast....
